Dr. Nikku is actively engaged in communities of practice and student research training. Currently, Dr. Nikku is developing collaboration and community partnerships to carry out research with communities to explore their disaster resilience through community science approaches. The project brings earthquake-affected communities from Nepal, wildfire-prone communities from BC, Canada, and Tsunami victims from Sri Lanka. Collaborating with these communities and through co-creation, we will be designing and developing community tool kits (maps, routes, evacuation choices) that will be used by the communities in the event of disasters, resulting in better preparedness and resilient futures to disasters and catastrophes.
