Priscila F. M. Lopes graduated in Biology at the University of Campinas (2001), where she also got her master’s (2004) and PhD (2008) degree in Ecology. Part of her PhD was done at the University of California (Davis), at the Anthropology department (Evolutionary Wing). She is also a co-founder of the non-profit Fisheries and Food Institute. Her main research lines are small-scale fisheries, fishers' behavior and strategies and fisheries co-management.
