Priyadarshi Patnaik

Priyadarshi Patnaik is Professor and former Head, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences, former Chairman, Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He is a member of the Advisory Committee, Kolkata Museum of Modern Arts, and member of Board of Studies, Kala Bhavan, Viswa Bharati, KIIT and many other universities. His areas of research include visual culture and communication, emotions and music, happiness studies and translation studies. As a part of the V2V initiative and DST project on renewable energy – where is a Co-lead of Information System working group – he has focussed on developing information system, and looking into the role of communication for empowerment and sustainability. His interests include visual art, photography, poetry, translation and flute-making. He has more than 80 academic papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals, 17 volumes of academic and creative writing/edited volumes, and has published poetry, fiction and photographs in international journals. He has been teaching and researching for the last 26 years and has supervised more than 20 PhD and MS students.
